DAVID LAI

David comes to us with a strong background in athletics and human performance. Growing up competing in basketball and tennis, he developed the discipline and resilience that continue to shape his approach to coaching today. He went on to earn his Kinesiology degree from the University of Toronto, where he also supported the Varsity Blues football team as a student therapist, assisting with injury care and rehabilitation. His own experience recovering from an ACL tear gave him valuable insight into the physical and mental challenges clients face during rehab.

After graduating from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy, David now provides massage therapy at Nova, combining his skills to support effective movement and performance for his clients.

As a coach, David is approachable, supportive, and intentional with every session. He focuses on educating clients so they understand both the “how” and “why” behind their training, empowering them to build confidence, strength, and long-term resilience. David views every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow, both for himself and for the people he coaches!

Frequently Asked Questions

About Facial Stretch Therapy

  • What is Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST)?

FST is a manual therapy technique that focuses on stretching and mobilizing the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, and joints.

  • Is FST different from regular stretching?

FST is performed by a trained therapist who uses specific techniques to release tension in the fascia. It involves more dynamic and controlled stretching compared to static stretching.

  • Is FST painful?

FST should not be painful. It is generally a gentle and relaxing therapy. However, some individuals may experience mild discomfort if they have areas of high tension or tightness.

  • How many FST sessions are typically needed?

The number of sessions needed can vary widely based on an individual's specific goals and the issues being addressed. Some people may benefit from just a few sessions, while others may choose to include FST as a regular part of their wellness routine.

  • How long is an FST session?

Nova offers sessions that can be 30, 60 or 90 minutes in length.

  • Does insurance typically cover FST sessions?

Many of our clients have insurance that covers their FST session. Insurance coverage can vary depending on your specific policy and the reason for seeking treatment. It's recommended to check with your insurance provider for details.
